Never liked Extreme, but this would be an awesome surprise. It would send the internet trolls and haters into a coma.

I heard there was no survey this year, so maybe it's up to the forum to steer the club in the right direction this time.

I love new characters, but to appease the most Fans, Golobulus is the elephant in the room. Personally I would be partial to a Red Shadows/Action Force set, but until Cobra-La gets done the nerd Rage will consume us all.

So Golobulus and 3x Guards with Crystal Ball. I can't think of another troop builder that works here though. Maybe some VvV troops like RazorClaw, or Coil Crusher, or Venoumous Maximus?

    Vs

Battle Force 2000. Sure not really ever opponents, but it would work fine and has shown up before plenty of times as the requested set yet to be done.

    Maverick/Dodger/Blocker/Blaster/Knockdown/Avalanche/Dee-Jay

    Big Lob parachute figure
    Sgt. Slaughter Vs Nemesis Enforcer
Footloose, Mutt, and a new character 3 pack

DEF Vs Headhunters is just as popular though

You know what would be horrible and cool at the same time? If they did a 12" ARAH set, and a 3 3/4" Adventure team set (kind of like how they did the Joe Colton small figure with the 12" figure before). That would not only make both sets of collectors want both sets, but it would almost guarantee a sell out on both sets, and give some people some of the things they've been wanting (more 3 3/4" AT sets, vehicles).

12" Joes could be Lady Jaye, Scarlett, Jinx, Cover Girl, vs Zarana, or they might do a cliche of CC vs Duke.

I say it would be horrible because I'd go bankrupt buying both sets and exclusives!

Ninja Force could work, but we've got most of Ninja Force (from the first wave anyway) already. If they did a Ninja Force, we'd have to have Dojo, Bushido, Banzai, Snake Eyes, Night Creeper, Zartan, Orange Slice (the ninja, not the drink), and Red Ninja (repainted Dice). That's only 8 characters, which leaves 7 slots left just for the boxed set, unless you get 6 of the Night Creepers and Red Ninjas, which leaves 3 spots open. I suppose some of the Shadow Ninja versions could be included, but would have to be Nunchuck and Storm Shadow (unless we wanted 2 Snake Eyes, Slice, Bushido, or an extra Night Creeper). The other option to fill the 3 spots would be to have Black Dragon and maybe a BD Trooper or two, or possibly some other ninja from the new sculpt era.

DEF has been done but not with a ME version. I'd love to see a ME Gristle and Long Arm. I suppose a repaint of Bullhorn, Shockwave and Low Light would be done, if we're going with the SWAT team version from a few years ago. DEF was great for me as a kid, but the only ones I'd be excited about would be Headman, Long Arm (who was only DEF in Australia), Shockwave (DEF version), and Headhunters. I suppose Cutter and Bulletproof would be ok, and I never was crazy about that version of Mutt. Maybe Mace? HH Stormtrooper? Maybe we could get something besides the Hammer repainted again. I've got 3 versions of that jeep now!

BF 2000 is at the top of my list though, they were originally supposed to be fighting Destro, and we've had the Iron Grenadiers 3 or 4 times already for a con set, and I don't need anymore of them. I guess Cobra La would be good, as long as we got a good Golobulus and good Royal Guards. Maybe a Cobra Commander scientist just for kicks? Or possibly a CC with multiple eyes, or snakeified?

I agree, a Big Lob ME figure would work too. How about also including Golobulus' thingie he rode in? Maybe have that as a figure spot in the box?

i hope that when big lob is made, he's not a con only exclusive

If that's true let's try to steer the club in the direction of a few areas of focus.
Apparently Cobra-La is off the table for moments so let's concentrate on:
    Star Brigade
    DEF/Headhunters
    Battle Force 2000
    SAF/Red Shadows
These are top on my wish list, but other ideas would be great as well.

We should all put together realistic ideas for sets and vehicles and keep posting them on the forum.

There might not be a survey, and the Club might not be legally allowed to make Cobra-La because maybe Hasbro has already chosen the Con set themes for next two years? There way of bridging us from JoeCon to HasCon and introducing us to the shared Universe. If that is the case a Star Brigade set is a possibility since there are Aliens in the shared Universe, and Cobra-La is either completely disavowed after Pythona (who may have her origins retconned into the new mythos) or plans at retail as part of the Universe. Plus as someone else pointed out Cape Canaveral is not far away...

DEF vs. Headhunters would be great. I think the figures that should be included have been covered/are obvious, but there are some good vehicle options too. The Rhino or Ninja Combat Cruiser would make good SWAT/urban combat vehicles. Water Moccasin in white could be the Sharc 9000 for Cutter. Headhunters could have the ROC Steel Crusher. Smaller vehicle/attendee freebie could be one of the Retaliation motorcycles painted as a police bike.

Instead of just naming old sub teams let's see what else we can come up with. The con set always features a comic with an original story about the characters in the set (another reason not to make an 87 movie set, they want to write a new story not just retell the movie) so if you could write a comic about it, then you can make it into a box set.
I'm not going to try to make up a whole story here, but there could be some special mission to an exotic location (jungle, desert, arctic, underwater, whatever) where Joes and Cobras battle. In the Sunbow series they were always racing around the globe to recover parts of the weather dominator or something.
For example an arctic set could feature some ARAH figures that we haven't seen in modern era, or you could put any characters you wanted in cold weather gear.

    GI Joe:
Led by Flint (easy, Flint head on any cold weather body)
& Lady Jaye (make a new vest accessory to look like women's size winter coat)
Blizzard (probably needs a new head or helmet at least)
Sub Zero (Low Light head with Snow Job hood)
Snow Storm (new head/helmet or possibly reuse a helmet)
Iceberg v2 (with masked head and new alternate unmasked v1 head!)

    Cobras:
Major Bludd (don't have an arctic version of him yet do we?)
& Baroness (re use same new coat as Lady Jaye)
pick whatever Cobra vipers you want to see repainted in white arctic camo

See, I even did that without making too many new parts. Might not make much sense to have this set in Orlando, but since when did the convention set have anything to do with the location? Or have the convention up north in 2018.

Some of us are hoping the set fills in early year holes. But I agree that the Club can pick a mission... Give us Hardball, Backstop, Downtown, and the other 87-90 that haven't seen an ME update yet. ...

You want some more 87-90 Joes, how about this? (I've had this idea before, not sure if I posted it anywhere on this forum or not)

Cobra Armored Vehicles vs. Joe Infantry Heavy Weapons

Cobra is moving a column of armored vehicles through the jungle to invade (insert name of made up helpless country here). To minimize collateral damage the Joes can't respond with a full on assault. Instead they send a small team of heavy weapons specialists to sabotage the enemy vehicles before they complete their mission.

    Joes:
    Capt. Grid Iron
    Fast Draw
    Hardball
    Downtown
    Backblast
    Recoil

(Heavy Duty and Salvo would be here, but it looks like we are getting them this year anyway, unless the Salvo isn't close enough to the ARAH v1)

    Cobra:
    WORMS x3
    Motor Vipers x3
(Not sure who else would be in the Cobra set, it's mostly vehicle drivers so far, so we need some good exclusive vehicles for them. Ninja Combat Cruiser in vintage Stinger colors, 25th MOBAT in Cobra Blue, something to replace the Maggot...)
