View Full Version : 2016 G.I. Joe/Transformers Collectors' Club Crossover Set - Package Preview!

10-13-2016, 03:11 PM

This 2016 crossover set has "book style" packaging for the five figure G.I. JOE/TRANSFORMERS exclusives and is VERY collector friendly. Once the front panel is opened, the clear sleeve slides off. Figures can be removed and replaced in the internal blister tray as desired for play or display.

This Limited Edition set is available for pre-order and production quantity
will be split between the two Collectors' Clubs!

It does look beautiful guys, but this is a perfect example of why offering bagged figures as an alternative for people not concerned with the box would work.

10-13-2016, 06:32 PM
I can't wait for this

10-13-2016, 06:46 PM
Any alternative that gets me that scarlett and allows me to put my kids through college would be preferable.

10-14-2016, 10:02 AM
I do like the packaging. Hope it remains in the store for a while.

10-15-2016, 01:25 PM
Totally Original Packaging!! Quite the Surprise. At the time ,this story was epic and was set aside from the Ninja story. Should really use this type of Packaging on more offers. Maybe JoeCon extras of the 3 Paks ,instead of little baggies.

Is there ANY update on when this is shipping? We paid upfront for it a LONG time ago.

12-04-2016, 10:45 AM
I believe they said end of December

12-04-2016, 08:44 PM
I'm pretty sure I have prepaid for the FSS and waited almost 6 months for them to START shipping. Then it was almost a year later that they finished the subscription. Waiting 2 months for this isn't that long.
Since it has Transformers in it, and FunPub is losing the license to make/sell Transformers at the end of the year, these will almost certainly ship during December.

12-18-2016, 06:55 PM
That's all true but we're already into christmas week. I expect we probably won't see this until the first week of the new year.

12-18-2016, 10:52 PM
I'm saving myself the headache and just expecting possibly beginning of Feb. If they come sooner, mores the better. :0)

12-21-2016, 07:44 AM
Yeah, it'll be december 23rd on Friday so there's little to no chance that they make the "late December" shipment we were all promised when we paid forward. See it in February, I guess.

12-21-2016, 08:07 AM
Does anything ever make the projected time?

12-21-2016, 09:28 AM
In their December updates thread, they already said they wouldn't be receiving them until January:
"The container with the FSS 5 figures and Transformers crossover set are in transit now. It should arrive here around the first of January. "

12-21-2016, 10:57 AM
I'm sure retooling Salvo based on the feedback they got set the timeline back a bit. Perhaps they were still hopeful to get them from the manufacturer on time but maybe the manufacturer had problems.

12-21-2016, 12:22 PM
If it reduces freight costs, or if the figures were produced at the same time since they're all low number runs, I understand why they would.

12-21-2016, 12:31 PM
Guys, all I'm saying is that this item was CHARGED to all members credit or debit cards at purchase and it was very much insinuated that the reason for that was because it would ship relatively quickly. At least with FSS you're given the option of being billed in installments and - with everything else the club sells - you're billed within a day or two of shipment. If this was going to be produced or shipped with FSS I just don't understand why there was no bill at shipment option since it was not cheap and billing ahead meant a bunch of customers' money was then tied up in an item they will not have until February over the holiday season. Seems like that could have been avoided to me.

12-21-2016, 12:51 PM
I would generally agree that pre-billing a pre-order should be met with as little wait time as possible. And if this wasn't being built to order, there's no real reason they should have needed to require payment upfront.

Anybody else get a notification that their five-pack just shipped? I did.

01-06-2017, 11:14 AM

Woo Hoo! Got my set in the mail today! First time in my membership that I have been one of the first to receive and not the last at the end of the month...

01-09-2017, 08:52 AM
How's it look? Is the box pretty?

01-09-2017, 08:57 AM
Box is interesting... not a box, but a diorama slip cover? That goes over the plastic packaging. Rodimus looks good, Arcee's hair looked better in pics than in person, but the head still looks like it could be a good Glenda accept I don't think the Pilot Scarlett helmet will fit now

Got mine today. It's nice and the diorama packaging is very cool. Glad to have Ninja Force Scarlett... but it's still a LOT to pay for four figures and some pack-ins. The diorama is nice but it's not as big as the printed boxes that the comicon sets have... which makes sense because it's four figures and some pack-ins. I just wish there could be some sanity about pricing for this kind of set because all this means is people willing to sell their NF Scarlett are now going to start listing the single figure at at least $100 as the whole set was only about $40 more than that. Once again the collectors who just want a key figure will get gouged.

01-09-2017, 10:55 PM
Yeah, I hear that. I'll be looking at that NF Scarlett down the road a piece, but not for no sawbuck. Bad enough I can't get my hands on a FSS Covergirl because of that crap. I am looking forward to Hot Rod and Arcee though.

01-10-2017, 06:52 AM
I try to keep my complaining to a minimum, because, like all of us, I am here by choice. But this set is really sticking in my craw. As much as they say 5 figures, I think calling the TFs anything more than pack-ins is a stretch. Not only that, but there's no ninja force in FSS 5.0, so the only NF member this year is probably this one, in a set that's just way too much (for me, anyway), which means I don't get it, or I pay too much for it somewhere else, which makes me question why I'm in the club. I can not get joes I want anywhere.

I'd be curious to know how many members would have paid the average FSS post sub price of $40 for a carded Scarlett or Biggles-Jones, and would have preferred to do so in lieu of this set. I also don't see the appeal of this for strictly TF collectors, at least at the asking price.

01-10-2017, 08:53 AM
That is why I bought the set because Dr. Biggles-Jones is also going to go for a premium...

01-10-2017, 12:00 PM
Did anyone receive transformation instructions with their set? I realized that my set does not have any paperwork for Ratbat or Megatron (tech specs or transformation instructions) and wasn't sure if this was just mine or if they didn't come with them at all.

01-10-2017, 12:13 PM
Actually I opened it up to make sure all the hands/feet on the joes were correct. I never thought to look at the Transformers at all.

01-10-2017, 02:39 PM
No love for Cobra Commander??? ;)

01-10-2017, 02:41 PM
Can y'all post some more pics of the figures?

Eye paint--one of my biggest pet peeves--looks decent enough, especially Arcee. That's a good sign for FSS 5.0...

01-11-2017, 05:37 PM
I know it's on a really old 25th mold, but I really love the dark blue/silver colors on that CC.

01-22-2017, 12:04 PM
I received my Joe/TF set the other day. I have to say it's not bad and the box is much smaller than I expected. I know a lot fans don't like Ninja Force, but Scarlett is a great addition to my post-1990 ME collection. I hope the club finishes up NF before the end of 2018 (at least Dojo, Bushido, Banzai, and Zartan). Biggles-Jones and Cobra Commander are also good figures. I also enjoyed the TF figures as I have not purchased a transformer since 1996.

Mine had no instructions either

That Scarlett is my number 2 favorite Scarlett figure right behind Resolute Scarlett.
