I LOVE this! I have been wanting this figure and Tomax in this design for years. Thank you, club, for finally doing it right. Yeah, OK, I know customizers have theirs, I want THIS.

This is awesome!!!... Though if I'd say ONE thing... I'd rather the 25th head sculpts and a new head sculpt somewhere else... (And For continuity purposes Bc I'm a perfectionist like that) I'm assuming the originals weren't available maybe? It'd be a sin not to give us tomax... Mystery figure perhaps?

axonrey@gmail.com
08-24-2016, 03:40 PM
No, no Tomax. I don't want the same figure twice, at least not in the FSS 5.0.

Thompson.hunter58@yahoo.com
08-24-2016, 03:44 PM
Doesn't have to be fss 5 necessarily, as long as we get it... That'd kill me to just have one of them and since it's a new head sculpt you'd have to have a new one on tomax as well... Or I could swap heads with the originals and fill in the scar and use this one for another character

I pray for Tomax as the mystery13th, '17 incentive, or FSS 6. This is a version I have been desperate for for years and it looks amazing. I hope it is the 13th, if anything it will be good to get another new head in this FSS. Bravo on this one and PLEASE get around to his brother!

I would wager it’s a guarantee we’ll get his missing half sooner or later. ;) I also agree a new head would have worked better for General Flagg so we wouldn’t have him and Sneak Peek sharing the same one, but on the plus side this new Xamot portrait looks more proportionally correct compared to the slightly too small 25th one Hasbro did. (Kind’a looks like an older Billy too.)

Overall he looks good as a cartoon tribute, but considering this will be the third time we’ve gotten the Twins in modern format, I would have rather seen other individual Cobras like Crystal Ball, Munitia, Hotwire, or even Dr. Knox & Mara made who haven’t even gotten one modern release yet. Here’s hoping in FSS 6.

His pants were gray in the comic, so it is accurate. Nicely done club, this figure looks great!

The pants were gray when they wore suits in the Sunbow cartoon too. He looks exactly like he should look... except there is only one of them. I know what was in the AT Shattered Glass comic, but I still think most of us want both twins if any. Hope we see Tomax somewhere soon, with a new mirrored head sculpt and vest.

Agreed. And it is also a SUNBOW tribute, as stated. So there is plenty of built-in excuse to give us Tomax. Only bummer is that it wouldn't be mirror image, unless the flower is a tampo...

Did Tomax die in the IDW Cobra series? If so, I can better except only Xamot...

And the case of money! Yahoo!!!

In the shattered glass story- alt reality where Tomax died at birth and Xamot is like Zartan and Schizophrenic. He talks to "Tomax" whose image is what Xamot sees in the mirror.

FINALLY! I know that everybody-including myself-used the James McCullen convention body for the suited Tomax and Xamot, but it's just different this way--it's official. I guess we will all have to try and buy another to make a custom Tomax, or it could be the 13th figure. I'm hoping the 13th is Fast Draw though. Also the Extensive Enterprises money-filled briefcase is an awesome accessory! Definitly opening and setting this one up in an office diorama!

Everybody wants a Tomax in this "Shattered Glass" style, but there was no Tomax in the Shattered Glass series.

Only Xamot.

Tomax was likely still Xamot's twin, but could have passed away at an early age, damaging the psyche of Xamot, so much so that he created his brother in the form of his own reflection, talking and responding to a ghost...

Or Xamot's just crazy enough to create a non-existent twin in his fractured mind.

Really looking forward to this figure and the new head is a very good-looking sculpt. Only problem is there is inconsistency with the placement of the hair part, scar and flower. This is the mirror image of the cartoon Xamot. He should have the hair part, flower and scar on the opposite side that he does here. HOWEVER, the cartoon always had the scar on the opposite side that the action figures did. I definitely like the idea of staying consistent with the action figures. But to do that, his hair part needs to be on the left side, the same side as the scar.

Essentially what this figure is is EITHER cartoon Tomax with a scar or action figure Tomax with a scar. For me, I would rather be consistent with the action figures and have the hair part switched to the same side as the scar and flower.

Of course, this figure DOES match how he was drawn in Shattered Glass. The problem is the choices the artist made there are not consistent with either the cartoon or the action figure.

I also think it might look better to just paint over that pin on his tie so it's yellow like the rest of the tie. That's what Hasbro did with the Professor X action figure and it looked less distracting than painting it a different color.

Yes we are asking for Tomax. Yes, I already know how the character was portrayed in Shattered Glass. So? We were all fans of GI Joe long before the SG comic. Most of us won't use the figure to recreate that one scene from one issue of a comic that wasn't even part of the actual GI Joe timeline. Most collectors want these figures to display how they were in the Sunbow cartoon and the comics, where the twins were inseparable. The club even acknowledges this as a Subow tribute as much as SG. It stands to reason there should be a suited Tomax figure at some point, no matter what happened to him in SG.

I don't know, I think that part is fine. I occasionally wear ties at work and I have pins or clips I wear that attach to my shirt and hold the tie in place. What is worse is the black knee joints. Hopefully those parts are the same gray as the pants on the final figure.

This is fantastic and great tribute to the Sunbow years. I've always wanted Tomax and Xamot in their business attire with Extensive Enterprises briefcases. It's interesting but I think they were shown in suits more frequently than in their Cobra uniforms.

Can't wait for Tomax - 2017 Club figure, FSS 6 or Joe Con '17.

Exactly this.

Especially because the Club themselves consider it a DUAL homage, calling it both Sunbow AND Shattered Glass. That leaves plenty of room for a Sunbow twin. At the very least, a figure of the split personality/mirror-imaged Tomax persona.

j_yoders@hotmail.com
08-25-2016, 01:34 PM
This is definitely more of a Sunbow figure than an SG one. We NEED to get the Tomax to fill out the set.

Count me in the group that's really happy about this, too, as I was concerned we were going to see more IDW, amazon and other "alternate reality" figures. Very glad this is similar to the Sunbow cartoon and a Tomax would be a great opportunity to make a new figure with subtle changes.

csi_kincaid@yahoo.com
08-25-2016, 02:19 PM
I think this one is pretty easy to call. Maybe this is just my opinion, or an observation. If this line up was created prior to the contract extension, then it stands to reason that the club also had to approve the figure(s) before the extension. By that reasoning, there is truly one of two ways to look at. Either the club is going to give us what we deserve (Tomax as 13) or they had no intent of doing him at all.

axonrey@gmail.com
08-25-2016, 02:27 PM
I think that's why they referred to it as shattered glass. That version makes Tomax unnecessary.

j_yoders@hotmail.com

If anyone does want a Tomax and the club doesn't provide it I'd say buy a separate Xamot and fill in the scar on his face and paint it and switch sides with the flower on his jack and there you go! It'll take a lil glue and paint but it's totally doable.

j_yoders@hotmail.com
08-26-2016, 09:28 AM
It's very doable but it's a GREAT opportunity to do another figure with subtle changes and that's what we really want from the club. New head sculpt with, perhaps, longer hair, the flower on the other side and different accessories, perhaps.

Take a closer look at Xamot's hair and scar. The scar is on the left so is his hair combed on the left side. In the cartoons Xamot's hair is combed on the right side and the scar is on the right. Could any of you see if you can ask the Collector's Club to fix that?

You would also need to move the flower if trying to stay true to the cartoon.

axonrey@gmail.com

In the Shattered Glass panel, it appears to be the opposite, so the Sunbow Xamot would actually look the same as the Shattered Glass Tomax- which also means in SG they both have a scar, you know, being a reflection and all.

j_yoders@hotmail.com
08-28-2016, 11:37 AM
But 90% of the people who want this figure don't care, at all, about Shattered Glass. Most people just want a Sunbow Tomax and Xamot.

axonrey@gmail.com

Agreed, but that's not what the club is selling, so it's accurate to the interpretation it's based on.

mutesquirrel@yahoo.com
08-28-2016, 02:06 PM
FWIW - I'm not nay-saying the cartoon but, looking at the nine Xamot figures listed on YoJoe (some of you here probably have every version, go physically check), each of them are scarred on the left. I only have the '85 personally, and it's a left cheek scar (released during Sunbow days). Keeping it on the left seems appropriate?

So is it really important or should we focus on other characters that need real tweaks?

rjhiii@sover.net
08-28-2016, 02:18 PM
All the Xamot's have the scar on the left. As long as the suit is accurate, I want consistency in the character's figures. No problem with this.
And yea the switching of eyes on Zanzibar is irksome to say the least in the BBTS release

His pants were gray in the comic, so it is accurate. Nicely done club, this figure looks great!

While this is as close to Sunbow we probably will ever get it is accurate to Shattered Glass as you can see, and consistent with all the other releases of Xamot.
