Hasbro will release two unique 3 3/4-inch Sgt. Slaughter figures in the 25th Anniversary design at the San Diego Comic-Con this month. The primary Sgt. Slaughter V1 figure has his classic USA tank top, and includes whistle, non-removable hat, championship belt, baton and a microphone. The second is a variant figure Sgt. Slaughter V2 in his classic 'Triple-T' Driver Military uniform, and includes a whistle, non-removable hat, machine gun, and a revolver.

To celebrate the homegrown hero and its fans, Rhode Island Governor, Donald L. Carcieri, proclaimed a “G.I. JOE Day” as Rhode Island schoolchildren were on hand for the celebration in the State House rotunda. The Governor was also joined by Hasbro’s President and CEO, Brian Goldner, as well as 250 parachuting G.I. JOE action figures that descended from the upper level of the domed structure, kicking off the official and largest convention of G.I. JOE enthusiasts.

USA TODAY has posted an article showcasing the return of Larry Hama to his '80s G.I. Joe series with IDW. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero No. 155 1/2, will be available at comics shops on Free Comic Book Day May 1. It will be followed with issue No. 156, written by Larry Hama and drawn by Agustin Padilla.

The first three sets are: AT Air Adventurer & Helicopter; AT Land Adventurer & 6-wheel ATV; Dr. "Venom" & AT Commander with giant man-eating plant.
